Description
The “Playfulness of Women” sculptures were crafted by a bronze artist hailing from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, formerly known as Upper Volta. These exquisite bronze figures were meticulously shaped using the lost wax method, an ancient technique that ensures each artwork is one-of-a-kind. In ancient Burkina Faso, this method was prevalent, with honey wax being utilized instead of paraffin-based waxes, and molds made from a mixture of river mud and horse dung for added durability during metal casting.

I recently purchased a pair for our bookshelf, and I must say, they look fantastic. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are truly remarkable! Furthermore, the backstory of the artist adds an intriguing layer to the piece. This was definitely a great buy, and I’m already considering making another purchase soon!
